Castro family

18 Dec 2011

A journey to meet the mother of the Castro Rodriguez girls, Orcila, Heydi and Xorchil, who lives at the foot of the volcano Mombacho where the soil is fertile. She grows sweetcorn and frigoles and lives with her son, Marlon. The house is basic and un safe for the girls to stay in on a permanent basis and they would loose out on education. But they will spend the Christmas holidays with their mother, sleeping behind the curtain near the sweetcorn. We visited with Elsa the social worker.
